INFLUENCIA DEL ESTRÉS HÍDRICO SOBRE EL CONTENIDO DE CERAS EPICUTICULARES EN ETAPAS FENOLÓGICAS DEL SORGO

Abstract

En un experimento efectuado durante 1992, se evaluó el efecto del temporal sobre la producción de ceras epicuticulares por hojas de cinco genotipos de sorgo (Sorghum bicolor L. Moench) en diferentes etapas fenológicas. Se muestrearon segmentos de hoja en etapa vegetativas (53 días después de la siembra, DDS), en antesis (68 DDS) y en llenado de grano (83 DDS), en las que se cuantificó la cantidad de ceras epicuticulares mediante un método colorimétrico. Se encontraron diferencias estadísticas (P<0.01) entre genotipos, entre etapas fenológicas y entre condiciones de humedad. En promedio, la concentración de cera aumentó en 21 % en la condición de temporal, en comparación con la de riego. Tal aumento de ceras epicuticulares fue superior en 64 % en la etapa de llenado de grano que en la etapa vegetativa. Se concluyó que el aumento de concentración de ceras epicuticulares en la lámina de hoja de sorgo, se da en respuesta al estrés hídrico, en magnitud que depende del genotipo y del grado de estrés.
