DIFERENCIACI0N FLORAL EN ESPECIES FRUTALES PERENNES

Abstract

El conocimiento de las fechas en que empieza y ocurre el proceso de la diferenciación floral, constituye una información valiosa para definir la época adecuada para la aplicación de algunas prácticas de manejo (rie­go, poda, fertilización, aplicación de reguladores de crecimiento, etc.). Sin embargo, a pesar de la importancia que reviste el conocimiento del tiempo en que ocurre este evento del ciclo reproductivo, es relativamente reducido el número de investigaciones relacionadas con la diferenciación floral en especies frutales perennes (Mullins, 1979); además, se observa que la mayoría de la información disponible se ha generado en frutales ca­ducifolios que se desarrollan en clima templado y solamente en forma ais­lada se mencionan estudios de diferenciación floral en especies frutales creciendo en climas subtropicales y tropicales (Jackson y Sweet, 1972).
