The Role of Viruses of the Herpesviridae Family in the Formation of Prenatal Infection in Premature Infants

Abstract

One of the leading medical and social problems of obstetrics and perinatology is intrauterine infections, among which special attention is paid to the infection caused by herpes viruses. Herpesvirus infections tend to a protracted, often severe course, which is accompanied by a decrease in the quality of life.Purpose. To analyze the role of herpes viruses affecting the nervous system, such as: Herpes simplex virus types 1 and 2, Epsteina – Barr virus, Cytomegalovirus and Human herpesvirus type 6 in the formation of prenatal pathology in premature babies.Materials and methods. We analyzed domestic and foreign publications on the role of herpesviruses in lesions of the nervous system in intrauterine infections in newborns, systematized the issues of diagnosing herpesvirus infections in childhood. Results and discussion. The article presents the mechanisms of transmission of herpes viruses affecting the nervous system (Herpes simplex virus types 1 and 2, Epsteina – Barr virus, Cytomegalovirus and Human herpesvirus type 6), the features of the pathology caused by this group of viruses; clinical manifestations; features of the pathogenesis of these viral infections in premature infants.
