Guide méthodologique pour la transcription automatique de l'audio avec Whisper (OpenAI)

Abstract

Guide méthodologique sous forme de carnet Jupyter exécutable dans Google Colab avec prise en charge GPU, conçu pour transformer les sources sonores en textes exploitables par la recherche. Une part considérable de la production intellectuelle, patrimoniale et testimoniale des sciences humaines et sociales n'existe que sous forme orale — entretiens de terrain, conférences, fonds sonores — et demeure inaccessible à la recherche plein texte tant qu'elle n'a pas été transcrite. Le guide automatise et optimise ce processus au moyen de Whisper : transcription de la parole dans sa langue d'origine, traduction de l'audio vers l'anglais et détection automatique de la langue parlée, utile pour classer des fonds multilingues sans écoute préalable. Le carnet est organisé par phases : configuration de l'environnement et des dépendances, sélection du modèle selon le rapport qualité / vitesse / VRAM (de tiny à large et turbo), acquisition des données par trois voies (téléversement local, connexion à Google Drive, extraction audio depuis YouTube), traitement en ligne de commande ou depuis Python avec des paramètres ajustables — vocabulaire spécialisé, horodatage précis — et exportation en formats structurés (.txt, .srt, .vtt, .tsv, .json). Élaboré dans le cadre du Groupe d'intérêt sur l'acquisition assistée de textes (GT2) du Consortium Huma-Num ARIANE.
