The article describes the memory of Bydgoszcz citizens about World War II in the 21st century. In addition to scientific studies dedicated to World War II using the city of Bydgoszcz as an example, it is important to develop a model of memory about this event. There is a need of current information about the past, in this case - the time of World War II. Memorials in the form of plaques commemorating victims of the war are frequently outdated, in need of renovation and adding their description to general, new guides to the history of the city. It is noticeable in description of places of remembrance on the current websites. In the discussion on the memory about World War II, we should highlight the innovative forms of reaching those who are interested in history. These are virtual media that show the past life of local residents during the period of Nazi occupation. Many witnesses of history who remember World War II pass away. We should think about the best way to plant World War II in memory of the new generation. In the context of memory about the history of the region, the issue of incorporating the regional memory into the global memory remains current. Places of remembrance should contain specific, precise historical knowledge. The memory about World War II, in addition to its martyrological character, should have patriotic and educational overtones. It is important to develop a model of cultural and dominating memory about World War II that will stay among the residents of Bydgoszcz.
