Das Konzept Dry Port

Abstract

The globalization of production had led to changed conditions in transport of freights. A strong increase of traffic in road transport will be expected within the next years. Dry Ports could be a instrument, to displace shares from road to waterways and rail. Usually dry ports are concepts to bundle transport flows to and from ports to its hinterland. The following thesis deals with apportionment of the concept on the hinterland of the danube in Austria. In particular the requirements and potentials for a Dry Port in St. Pölten are analyzed.
