Adolescentes activos e adolescentes sedentários : a realidade portuguesa

Abstract

Os comportamentos de lazer sedentários são muitas vezes associados à reduzida pratica de actividade física (AF) dos adolescentes. Esta investigação teve como grandes objectivos identificar os perfis de adolescentes, com base no tempo de que despendem diariamente a ver TV e a quantidade de vezes que praticam AF na semana, e compreender as variáveis explicativas associadas a cada um. A amostra era composta por 4877 indivíduos de ambos os géneros, com uma idade média de 14 anos. o instrumento usado foi o questionário do estudo Health Behavior School-aged Children. Os resultados demonstram que a probabilidade dos jovens possuírem um determinado perfil está associado a diferentes variáveis em estudo. Os jovens com o perfil de Telespectadores Não Activos são raparigas (OR=O.4; p.005), no estado de pre-obesidade (OR=2.7; p.005) e obesidade (OR=3.9; p.005) e as suas famílias são de nível financeiro médio (OR=O.6; p.005). Os jovens Telespectadores Activos são rapazes (OR=3.4; p.005) e as suas famílias são de nível financeiro alto (OR=1.7; p.005). Os jovens com diferentes perfis de comportamentos sedentários e activos apresentam características distintas. (Nuno Marques de Loureiro, Margarida Gaspar de Matos, José Alves Diniz)
