A escada no Movimento Moderno

Abstract

The present dissertation has the purpose to study the Stairs, in the work of Le Corbusier, more precisely the start of the Modern Movement, between 1910-1929. This Architectural period of Le Corbusier is divided into two moments: the before and the after of the trips made to the East. This fact is related with the project of the Citrohan House which had as its main reference the Charterhouse of Galluzzo in Val´ Ema (Tuscany), Florence. Firstly, the dissertation engages some of the main works of the Antiquity, the Greek architecture, the Renaissance architecture, the Egyptian and the Baroque which their architects because of their creativity have made a difference utilizing the stairs in their projects. In a second stage, it will be made an individual review at the core construction of the architect in question that marked the professional course of the architect. In a third and final stage, we will proceed to an analyze of some constructions them so we can get a better idea of the similarities between these chosen constructions. It is important to highlight the historic references in the projects of Le Corbusier, because the made it possible for the architect to develop the Vers une Architecture and the creation of the Five Points for a New Architecture that are presented in one of his main constructions, the Villa Savoye and the Dom-ino system.
