Ciencia comunitaria como herramienta para el conocimiento y monitoreo de Ambystoma velasci (Caudata: Ambystomatidae) en el Cerro El Pinal, Puebla, México

Abstract

La ciencia comunitaria se ha consolidado como una estrategia clave para la generación de conocimiento integral en contextos con limitaciones de acceso y recursos. En este estudio se evaluó su aplicación para documentar la presencia y características ecológicas de Ambystoma velasci en el Cerro El Pinal, Santa Isabel Tepetzala, Puebla, México. Mediante un enfoque participativo, habitantes locales colaboraron en la identificación de sitios, registro de organismos y monitoreo de condiciones ambientales en cuerpos de aguas intermitentes tipo jagüey. Se registró la presencia de la especie en un intervalo altitudinal de 2,850–3,010 m s.n.m., incluyendo individuos en fase larval y con rasgos de paedomorfismo. Los resultados amplían el conocimiento de la distribución altitudinal de la especie en Puebla y evidencian la importancia de sistemas acuáticos temporales y artificiales como hábitat potencial. Asimismo, se documentó conocimiento ecológico local relevante sobre la dinámica estacional del hábitat y la percepción comunitaria de la especie. Este trabajo demuestra que la ciencia comunitaria no solo fortalece el monitoreo biológico, sino que también contribuye a la construcción de estrategias de conservación contextualizadas en sistemas socioecológicos complejos.
