Propriedades físico-mecânicas da madeira sólida de Schizolobium amazonicum

Abstract

A implantação de reflorestamentos com a espécie Schizolobium amazonicum no estado de Rondônia visa, além de reduzir o consumo de matéria prima oriunda de formações florestais naturais, e consequentemente as distâncias de transporte e custos de exploração, promover uma valorização econômica de propriedades com a substituição de pastagens de baixo rendimento por essências florestais de grande procura no mercado local e regional. O estudo objetivou avaliar a variação longitudinal da densidade básica e da massa específica aparente, e a variação radial das propriedades mecânicas da madeira sólida de paricá (S. amazonicum) aos 14 anos de idade, de duas áreas de florestas plantadas no estado de Rondônia. A média obtida para a densidade básica e massa específica aparente a 12% de umidade foi de 310 kg/m³ e 370 kg/m³, ambas com tendência de redução ao longo da porção longitudinal avaliada. As diferenças entre os valores médios encontrados para a madeira próxima a medula e próxima a casca na resistência ao cisalhamento, na resistência e MOE à compressão paralela, no MOR e no MOE à flexão estática foram de 18,73%, 13,67% e 9,65%, 22,05% e 22,63%, respectivamente. Com exceção da resistência ao cisalhamento, os valores encontrados neste estudo foram superiores a outros com a mesma espécie, principalmente, em relação ao MOE à flexão estática.
