Abstract

La théorie sémantique se divise en deux parties : la référence (qui traite des relations entre les mots et le monde extérieur) et le sens (qui traite des relations que les mots tissent entre eux). Dans le Sentimiento Trágico de la Vida les mots se définissent plus par leur sens que par leur sens référence. Par exemple, amor, persona, anhelo, conciencia, alma, espíritu, etc., acquièrent un sens qui naît du lien qui s'établit entre ces mots et d'autres comme dolor, voluntad et muerte. Ainsi l'analyse du S. T. V. confirme les affirmations de Kurt Baldinger dans sa Théorie sémantique. L'analyse d'autres mots — vivir, sentir, hombre, humano, etc. — permet donc de conclure qu'Unamuno est « bilingue » et écrit en deux langues qui ont des structures sémantiques différentes, bien qu'elles se partagent les mêmes mots. Il en ressort que la théorie sémantique peut permettre de comprendre un texte quelle que soit la difficulté qu'il présente.
