Abstract

Réserve de la biosphère, l'île canarienne de El Hierro deviendra bientôt autosuffisante grâce à une centrale hydraulique unique au monde. Autre événement marquant, une intense activité sismique sous-marine a fait surgir un cône volcanique de l'océan. L'île est sous la protection de la Vierge des Rois mages fêtée avec ferveur depuis 1546.
