Abstract

L'analyse exhaustive des équipements (alimentation, bâtiment, services privés et publics) des quarante-huit communes du Nord-Est quercynois conduit à un classement des bourgs et villages en fonction de leur complexité et de leur volume. Elle fait apparaître une véritable revanche des quatre chefs-lieux de canton, seuls centres pleinement attractifs. Malgré la concurrence briviste et les rivalités locales, un réseau urbain dominé par Saint-Céré pourrait s'organiser le long d'un axe orienté du Limargue de coteaux aux vallées de la Dordogne et de la Bave. Il fournit un exemple caractéristique d'armature urbaine en milieu rural.
