Studies on Neotropical Phasmatodea VI, The genus Cranidium Westwood, 1843 (Phasmatodea, Phasmatidae, Cladomorphinae)

Abstract

Etudes sur les Phasmatodea neotropicaux. VI, le genre Cranidium Westwood, 1843 (Phasmatodea, Phasmatidae, Cladomorphinae). Le genre Cranidium Westwood, 1843 [espece-type : Diapherodes (Cranidium) serricollis Westwood, 1 843 = D. gibbosa Burmeister, 1838] est redecrit. Il est montre que Bacteria clavigera Redtenbacher, 1908, est le mâle de Cranidium gibbosum, nouveau synonyme ; des lectotypes sont designes pour ces deux taxons. Des descriptions et des illustrations detaillees des deux sexes et des œufs aussi bien qu'une liste complete des synonymies sont fournies pour C. gibbosum, qui est la seule espece incluse dans le genre. La synonymie de D. (C.) serricollis avec C. gibbosum est attribuee a Charpentier (1845), non a Kirby (1904). Des informations detaillees sont fournies sur la biologie, l'habitat naturel, les plantes nourricieres et l'elevage de C. gibbosum. Une breve revision de la tribu Cranidiini est proposee.
