Análisis de eficiencia técnica en el sector manufacturero chileno: una aproximación con fronteras estocásticas de producción

Abstract

Esta investigación analiza la eficiencia técnica de la industria manufacturera chilena, con metodología paramétrica de fronteras estocásticas de producción, con el fin de proponer un método complementario al clásico análisis de productividad. Para realizar el estudio se construyó un panel de datos a partir de la información provista por la Encuesta nacional industrial anual (ENIA) relativa a 96 clases productivas definidas según la Clasificación Industrial Internacional Uniforme (CIIU) para el periodo 2000 - 2008. Los principales resultados indican que: 1) la eficiencia técnica disminuye significativamente durante el periodo señalado, con esto prueba la hipótesis general del trabajo, 2) la industria, durante el periodo evaluado, alcanza una eficiencia técnica anual promedio de 48.3% y 3) el trabajo es el factor productivo de mayor elasticidad en la industria seguido por el capital, la energía y los servicios.
