EVALUASI SITOTOKSISITAS SERAT DAUN NANAS (Ananas comosus (L.) Merr) DAN POLYETHYLENE SEBAGAI FIBER REINFORCED COMPOSITE

Abstract

Pendahuluan : Fiber reinforced composite (FRC) adalah material yang terdiri dari matriks yang diperkuat dengan fiber. Polyethylene merupakan fiber yang sering digunakan dalam perawatan kedokteran gigi, karena memiliki sifat mekanis yang baik. Penggunaan serat daun nanas ( Ananas comosus (L.) Merr. ) sebagai bahan biomaterial tambahan pada komposit merupakan salah satu inovasi baru dalam pembuatan komposit secara alami. Tanaman Nanas juga memiliki nilai ekonomis, mudah ditemukan dan biaya pengolahan serat nanas yang murah. Tujuan penelitian untuk mengetahui sitotoksisitas polyethylene dan serat daun nanas sebagai FRC terhadap sel fibroblas. Bahan yang digunakan penelitian ini adalah serat polyethylene (CONSTRUCT KerTM, USA), serat nanas ( Ananas comosus (L.) Merr. ) dan resin komposit ( CubeFlow , Korea). Metode: Desain penelitian post test-only control group design, dengan dua kelompok perlakuan, kelompok pertama adalah polyethylene FRC dan kelompok kedua adalah serat daun nanas FRC dengan jumlah total sampel sebanyak 32 buah. Masing-masing bahan dimasukkan ke dalam cetakan berukuran 2x2x25mm yang diinkubasi selama 7 hari. Sitotoksisitas diuji dengan melihat Optical Density sel fibroblas ( Vero cell ) yang dihitung berdasarkan jumlah kristal formazan yang terbentuk menggunakan ELISA plate reader. Hasi l : Rerata presentase viabilitas sel fibroblas pada kelompok polyethylene FRC sebesar 93,38 ± 0,92 dan kelompok serat daun nanas FRC sebesar 93,25 ± 0,93. Hasil Independent t-test menunjukkan tidak ada perbedaan yang bermakna antara kedua kelompok perlakuan (p>0,05). S impulan : Tidak terdapat perbedaan jumlah sel hidup pada kelompok Polyethylene FRC dan kelompok serat nanas FRC. Polyethylene FRC dan serat nanas FRC tidak bersifat sitotoksik terhadap sel fibroblas.
