Abstract

As empregadas domésticas são trabalhadoras que estão na base da pirâmide do trabalhismo no Brasil, e as mulheres negras são maioria entre elas. Trata-se de um setor da economia tão robusto em número de trabalhadoras quanto informal, cuja regulamentação, além de extremamente tardia, é pouco respeitada. O artigo de natureza bibliográfica objetiva refletir sobre o trabalho doméstico no Brasil, em especial no contexto da pandemia de Covid-19 à qual afetou a vida e o trabalho dos trabalhadores em geral e, em particular, as trabalhadoras domésticas, sobretudo as trabalhadoras negras. Para tanto, reflete-se sobre as origens históricas do emprego doméstico no Brasil, a história dos direitos das empregadas domésticas no país e, por fim, discute-se sobre as omissões impostas às trabalhadoras domésticas no contexto da pandemia de Covid-19. Como resultado, constata-se que no campo específico do trabalho doméstico, a evolução da pandemia resultou na ampliação da precariedade das condições de trabalho e violação de direitos humanos, aprofundando, inclusive a desigualdade racial.
