Abstract Several methods have been used to measure various aspects of body conformation of the turkey. The purpose of this experiment was to determine the repeatability of measurements of shank length, keel length, breast width, and body depth. Shank length, keel length, and body depth were determined to the nearest one-eighth of an inch by a vernier caliper. The eighths were converted to tenths prior to analysis. Breast width was measured by a vernier caliper to the nearest tenth of a centimeter. Breast width and body depth were also determined by Bird’s (1945) instrument. Breast width, with both methods of determination, was measured at a point approximately 3.18 cm. (11/4 inches) from the anterior point of the keel.
