Studi Adsorpsi Metilen Biru Menggunakan Adsorben Ampas Tebu

Abstract

Metilen biru merupakan senyawa kimia yang digunakan sebagai zat warna dalam industri tekstil. Meningkatnya penggunaan metilen biru berpotensi meningkatkan limbah pada lingkungan khusunya di perairan yang nantinya akan menjadi polutan. Pada penelitian ini digunakan metode adsorpsi untuk mengurangi polutan salah satunya zat warna. Adsorben yang digunakan berupa ampas tebu yang telah dihaluskan dengan ukuran 100 mesh. Ampas tebu yang digunakan tidak dilakukan aktivasi kimia atau fisika terlebih dahulu agar bisa memberikan alternatif sebagai adsorben siap pakai, berbiaya rendah, aplikatif dan ramah lingkungan dengan efisiensi yang tetap kompetitif seperti adsorben teraktivasi. Adsorben selanjutnya dilakukan studi adsorpsi yang meliputi pengaruh waktu kontak, massa adsorben, volume adsorbat dan model kinetika adsorpsinya. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian didapatkan kondisi optimum adsorpsi pada waktu 20 menit, massa 0,1gram dengan volume adsorbat 10 mL dengan kapasitas adsorpsi 8,55 mg/g. Model kinetika adsorspi mengikuti model orde dua semu dengan nilai R2 0,99989 dengan persen galat sebesar 1,27%.
