Tratamento multidisciplinar de um caso de anquilose da articulação temporomandibular

Abstract

A anquilose da articulação temporomandibular é uma doença grave, caracterizada pela fusão entre o côndilo e a fossa mandibular, resultando em constrição da mandíbula, devido adesão por tecido ósseo ou fibrótico dos componentes anatômicos, causando limitação na amplitude dos movimentos da articulação, implicando em significativas limitações funcionais. O objetivo do presente artigo é descrever as técnicas de tratamento e atendimento multidisciplinar nas funções e qualidade de vida de um paciente portador de anquilose da articulação temporomandibular que foi submetido à sua reconstrução com enxerto costocondral. Trata-se de um caso de anquilose da articulação temporomandibular esquerda, que evoluiu com reabsorção de enxerto ósseo, retrognatia, assimetria facial e alterações funcionais significativas. Embora tenha havido uma regressão na abertura bucal e assimetria facial devido a reabsorção do enxerto, sendo indicativo de novo procedimento de artroplastia e procedimentos complementares para resolução do caso, o tratamento multiprofissional empregado foi efetivo na melhora da dor e da função mastigatória.
