Abstract

Kulit merupakan organ tubuh yang mempunyai letak paling luar dan terbesar pada manusia. Kulit berfungsi sebagai lapisan penghalang untuk melindungi tubuh terhadap pengaruh lingkungan. Paparan kronis terhadap radiasi UV dapat menimbulkan banyak efek samping pada kulit, seperti penuaan dini, kanker kulit, dan penurunan kemampuan respon imun. Antioksidan adalah salah satu zat yang dapat memberikan perlindungan endogen dan tekanan oksidatif eksogen dengan menangkap radikal bebas. Daun gedi (Abelmoschus manihot L) merupakan salah satu tanaman yang mengandung flavonoid yang dapat berkhasiat sebagai antioksidan yang dapat menangkal radikal bebas pada kulit. Sediaan sirup ditujukan untuk memudahkan konsumsi atau penggunaannya.Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk didapatkan sirup antioksidan dari ekstrak daun gedi yang optimum. Sirup dibuat dengan zat pengental berupa kombinasi CMC-Na dan Sukrosa. Metode ekstrasi yang digunakan yaitu maserasi sedangkan untuk optimasi formulasi menggunakan SLD. Dari penelitian didapatkan formasi optimum sirup daun gedi kombinasi CMC-Na 0,25% dan sukrosa 0,75%. Kombinasi CMC-Na dan sukrosan dapat meningkatkan viskositas, namun tidak mempengaruhi rasa, warna dan bau dari sirup.
