Green intellectual capital: essence and functions

Abstract

Methods. During the research the following methods were used: scientific abstraction – to clarify the essence of the category «green intellectual capital»; analysis and synthesis – to substantiate the functions of green intellectual capital. Results. The essence of green intellectual capital as a form of a broader generic phenomenon – intellectual capital – is analyzed in the article. It is indicated that green intellectual capital is a set of intangible assets of the subject of economic activity, which in the process of reproduction create ecologically oriented intellectual added value, which contributes to the development and implementation of ecological goods and technologies, to the increase of the efficiency of the use of resources for environmental protection and overall competitiveness. The contents of twenty functions of green intellectual capital, combined into four groups according to their purpose, have been singled out and disclosed. Novelty. Four groups of functions of green intellectual capital are distinguished: systemic (system-forming, accumulative, endogenous, exogenous, economic), related to innovations and knowledge (innovative, investment, motivational, marketing, conversion, educational), sociocultural and communicational (socio-cultural, communicative, informational, social), ecologicalmanagerial (creative, coordination, stabilization, ecological, geopolitical) and their content is revealed. Practical value. The results of the research can be used practically in managing processes of enterprises by using green intellectual capital and increasing their competitiveness and sustainability of development
