Perfil nutricional de praticantes de badminton

Abstract

Introdução: O badminton é um esporte individual ou de duplas, semelhante ao tênis, praticado com raquete e uma peteca. Esta atividade fí­sica é do tipo intermitente, e exige força, velocidade, agilidade, bons reflexos e resistência. O presente estudo teve como objetivo realizar a avaliação dos parâmetros antropométricos e nutricionais de atletas integrantes de uma equipe competitiva de badminton, filiados a um clube da zona sul de São Paulo. Métodos: A amostra foi composta por 6 atletas adolescentes, sendo verificados peso, altura, circunferências, dobras cutâneas e dados referentes ao consumo alimentar. Resultados: Segundo o í­ndice de massa corpórea, 16,7% dos jogadores apresentaram sobrepeso, enquanto 83,3% estavam eutróficos. Em relação ao percentual de gordura corporal, 66,7% estavam acima dos padrões recomendados, e 33,33% apresentavam percentual de gordura adequado. O consumo médio de carboidratos, lipí­dios, ferro e cálcio estavam inadequados, enquanto ao consumo de proteí­nas, vitaminas A e C se mostraram adequados. Conclusão: São necessárias intervenções nutricionais, a fim de otimizar o desempenho atlético dos jogadores de badminton estudados.Palavras-chave: badminton, consumo alimentar, adolescente, antropometria.
