
Aspergillus has been implicated as an aetiological agent of several different lung diseases including allergic asthma, allergic bronchopulmonary aspergillosis (ABPA), aspergilloma and invasive aspergillosis. The chief agent is A. fumigatus but other species including A. flavus, A. niger, A. terreus and A. nidulans are sometimes implicated.
