
En este artículo se hace una revisión de la literatura sobre la paridad del poder de compra (PPC) internacional. Una de las posibles explicaciones del no cumplimiento de la PPC es el efecto Harrod-Balassa-Samuelson y la presencia de cambios estructurales en las economías, que se reflejan en las variables económicas como el tipo de cambio real. Los resultados de la revisión de la literatura revelan que se ha mejorado los resultados a favor de la PPC, utilizando los avances econométricos con la metodología de datos panel y la incorporación de cambios estructurales. Sin embrago, los resultados aún siguen siendo no concluyentes.
