La hemorragia subaracnoidea (HSA) es una emergencia neurológica caracterizada por la extravasación de sangre dentro de los espacios del sistema nervioso central en los cuales circula el líquido cefalorraquídeo extra ventricular. A pesar de que representa sólo el 5% de la enfermedad vascular cerebral (EVC) en general, es responsable del 25% de todas las muertes relacionadas con EVC.
