Trayectorias discontinuas en educación superior: el caso de alumnos de la carrera de psicología de Iztacala, México

Abstract

El estudio tuvo como objetivos identificar las causas de las trayectorias discontinuas de los alumnos de la escuela de psicología de la FES Iztacala, en México, y conocer su peso relativo en la explicación de la discontinuidad. De 16 grupos de octavo semestre del ciclo escolar 2011/2, se ubicaron 110 alumnos discontinuos, quienes contestaron un cuestionario diseñado para identificar las explicaciones de la discontinuidad consideradas por los estudiantes. Los resultados indicaron que la mayor proporción de estudiantes discontinuos tenía tres años de atraso escolar. Las causas de discontinuidad más frecuentemente indicadas por ellos fueron las siguientes: llegar tarde a clases, la necesidad de trabajar para seguir estudiando, la falta de competencias sociales y académicas, los problemas familiares, así como el trato déspota de sus maestros y su falta de formación pedagógica. Los resultados se comparan con lo encontrado en estudios similares realizados en otras instituciones de educación superior
