Abstract

Lo scopo di questo lavoro e quello di stabilire un rapporto tra teoria e pratica nel campo delle strategie di opposizione statali alle richieste delle minoranze nazionali che aspirano a raggiungere forme di autogoverno. Le strategie dello Stato contro le richieste delle minoranze si distinguono in due fasi successive: nel riconoscimento del diritto delle minoranze e piu tardi nell’efficacia del diritto gia riconosciuto. Tutte queste strategie sono presentate e spiegate in questo lavoro con il supporto di uno studio del caso: le comunita indigene zapatiste di Chiapas che nel 1994 si ribellarono contro il governo messicano chiedendo la concessione di autonomia politica e il rispetto per la propria legge indigena. La lotta di queste comunita per conquistare i propri diritti rappresenta un caso esemplare di prova delle diverse e successive strategie di opposizione statale contro le rivendicazioni delle sue minoranze.
