The paper is based on original sources, the correspondence between Aldo Garosci and Indro Montanelli, which began in the second half of the 1970s. The correspondence is dominated by the two connected issues of antifascism and anticommunism. Through the analysis and contextualization of the letters the article investigates the cultural and ideological evolution of the two correspondents - an evolution which is in many ways representative of wider trends among Italian intellectuals at the time.
