Whitepaper: Real World Evidence

Abstract

Als Real World Evidence (RWE) bezeichnet man die gewonnenen medizinischen Erkenntnisse, die aus Beobachtungsstudien und der Darstellung der Versorgungsrealität mit Massendatenquellen (Big Data) gewonnen werden (Behrendt 2019). Sie erlauben im Gegensatz zu randomisierten klinischen Studien häufig eine höhere Generalisierbarkeit (externe Validität) (Ziemssen et al. 2017). Die interne Validität hingegen ist bei der Real World Evidence im Vergleich zu klassischen randomisierten klinischen Studien (interventionelle Studien) als geringer anzusehen, da im Vorfeld der Studien bzw. Beobachtungen keine geplanten Eingriffe (Interventionen) erfolgen, um mögliche Verzerrungen auszuschließen (Vogelmann 2019).
