Global Citizenship Education

Abstract

In dem Artikel werden zunächst unterschiedliche Systematiken vorgestellt, mit denen ein Überblick über die wichtigsten Strömungen von Global-Citizenship-Education-Konzepten gewonnen werden kann. Ausgehend von Kritiken an spezifischen Konzeptionen werden dann Vorschläge zur Weiterentwicklung dieses global ausgerichteten politischen Erziehungs- und Bildungskonzepts aufgeführt. Es folgt eine Darstellung zentraler Ziele und Inhalte von Global Citizenship Education. Daran anschließend wird auf Möglichkeiten eingegangen, mit Global Citizenship Education zur Prävention von politischem Extremismus beizutragen. In diesem Zusammenhang wird dafür plädiert, der Vermittlung hermeneutischer Kompetenzen eine zentrale Stellung einzuräumen. Abschließend wird das Verhältnis von allgemeiner Bildung und Global Citizenship Education thematisiert. Die Überlegungen führen zu der Schlussfolgerung, dass globale politische Bildung explizit mit sprachlicher und kultureller Bildung verbunden werden sollte.
