A multi-in-multi-out (MIMO) electrodynamic vibration suppression system based on global-local control strategy is established in this paper. The system has a structure composed of an upper layer and a lower layer. The lower layer employs a MIMO vibration suppression algorithm to suppress local vibration by using several eclectrodynamic vibration suppressors. The upper layer consists of a personal computer and a data acquisiton system to perform the principal component analysis of the global structural vibration. Resusts of the vibration suppression experiment on a slender structure show that the maximum vibration suppression decreased by 82%, and the overall structural average vibration decreased by 58%, which proves that this method is effective and feasible.
