Antik Mısır’dan Orta Çağ İslam Dünyası’na Kısa Matematik Tarihi

Abstract

Matematiğin kökenlerinin ne olduğu matematik felsefecileri ve matematik tarihçilerinin ortak araştırma konusudur. İlk gelişen matematiksel konseptin sayı sayma olgusu olduğu düşünülmektedir. İnsanların sayı saydığına ilişkin arkeolojik kanıtlar yazının keşfinden çok daha öncesine dayanmaktadır. Yüzyıllar içinde matematik, uygarlıklar arası etkileşimin bir sonucu olarak, insanlığın atmosfer sınırlarının dışına çıkmasına olanak sağlayacak hale gelmiştir. Bu makalede Antik uygarlıklardan başlanarak Orta Çağ İslam Dünyası’na kadar matematiğin gelişim serüveni ele alınacaktır. Makalenin yazılış amacı bu aralıktaki matematiksel gelişmelerle ilgili genel bir tablo sunmaktır.
