Kecemasan Matematika terhadap Kemampuan Pemecahan Masalah Matematika Siswa Kelas XI

Abstract

Students' mathematical problem-solving ability in Indonesia is low. One of the factors that influence it is anxiety. This research was conducted to determine the effect of math anxiety on the math problem-solving abilities of class XI high school students. This ex-post facto research is a Causal Comparative Research study. The study population was all students of class XI at one of the State Senior High Schools in Tinambung, with a sample of 48 students selected by cluster random sampling technique. The data collection technique was in the form of a mathematical anxiety questionnaire and a mathematical problem-solving ability test. Data analysis was carried out descriptively and inferentially with a simple linear regression test. The test results show that there is an effect of math anxiety on math problem-solving abilities, with a contribution of 15.4%. The student's anxiety factor in mathematics needs to be properly considered by the teacher to improve the ability to solve mathematical problems.
