Abstract

Dinding merupakan elemen terpenting dalam suatu bangunan, material berupa bataringan lebih diminati sebagai material penyusun dinding karena beberapakeunggulannya dibanding batu bata merah. Namun, sampai saat ini mengenai bataringan jenis apa yang lebih unggul belum banyak diketahui oleh masyarakat. Maka dariitu, penulis melakukan penelitian untuk mengetahui tipe bata ringan apa yang lebihunggul melalui pengujian karakteristik terhadap bata ringan yang berada di kotaMakassar. Pada penelitian ini dilakukan pengujian karakteristik bata ringan, yaitu:pemeriksaan berat volume, pengujian daya serap, pengujian absorpsi, pengujian kuattekan, dan pengujian kuat lentur dari beberapa sampel bata ringan yang beredar diMakassar. Adapun nilai yang diperoleh dari pengujian berat volume untuk sampel AACsenilai 748.33 kg/m3 dan sampel CLC senilai 843.68 kg/m3. Pengujian daya serapuntuk sampel AAC senilai 20.43 gr/dm2/menit dan sampel CLC senilai 16.16gr/dm2/menit. Pengujian absorpsi untuk sampel AAC senilai 40.2 % dan sampel CLCsenilai 44.47 %. Pengujian kuat tekan untuk sampel AAC senilai 8.55 MPa dan sampelCLC senilai 2.48 MPa. Pengujian kuat lentur untuk sampel AAC senilai 0.67 MPa dansampel CLC senilai 0.27 MPa.Sehingga, pengujian karakteristik bata ringan jenis AAC yang ada dikota Makassarmemiliki berat yang relatif ringan dan daya serap, kuat tekan dan kuat lentur yang lebihbesar. Sehngga bata ringan jenis AAC lebih unggul daripada bata ringan jenis CLC.
