The Nenets subjective debitive mood expresses necessity (internal modality) accompanied by supposition (external subjective modality). According to the determining factors necessity can be regarded as internal or external. An actual necessity implies the presence or absence of an aim, which enables differentiation between conditioned and unconditioned necessities, respectively. The debitive meaning of the subjective debitive in Nenets is derived from the destinative/purposive one. The article touches upon the syntagmatic scope of the subjective debitive, including its transposition into the spheres of the imperative and interrogative, as well as its substitution by the inferential.
