Abstract

Onicomicoses, também conhecidas popularmente como micoses em unhas, são infecções fúngicas que afetam o leito ungueal e tecidos adjacentes com hiperqueratose, descoloração e onicólise, causadas por fungos dermatófitos, leveduras e fungos filamentosos não dermatófitos. Dentre esses se destacam como agente etiológico desta micose, os fungos filamentosos do gênero Microsporum, Epidermophyton e Trichophyton e a levedura Candida albicans. A interação entre diferentes fungos tem sido objeto de diversos estudos, na qual já foi demonstrado que certas espécies de leveduras podem interferir no crescimento de fungos filamentosos por ação antagônica, com destaque para a produção de substâncias de atividade antifúngica letal. Este estudo tem como objetivo avaliar o potencial antagônico das leveduras Candida albicans, Candida parapsilosis e Candida tropicalis em co-cultivo com os fungos filamentososTrichophyton rubrum e Trichophyton mentagrophytes, sendo esses isolados clínicos provenientes da micoteca do Laboratório de Microbiologia da Faculdade de Medicina de São José do Rio Preto – FAMERP. Para isso, inóculos de cada cepa foram preparados e diluídos até 1/128 e posteriormente cruzados entre si. Os inóculos foram introduzidos em co-culturas em três diferentes testes, sendo um em meio sólido (Agar Mueller Hinton) e dois em meios líquido (Caldo Sabouraud Dextrose e RPMI). Todos os resultados apontaram inibição no crescimento dos filamentosos perante as leveduras. O antagonismo aqui descrito leva a propor novos procedimentos para a prática clínica, onde o exame micológico direto deve ser considerado e comparado com a cultura.
