
The objective of this article is to understand how artificial intelligence (AI) has evolved in the creation of NPCs (non-playable characters) in digital games and how these technologies impact player experience. The research adopted a qualitative approach, analyzing techniques like A* (A-star), Machine Learning, and Deep Learning to explore how these technologies adapt and personalize NPC behavior based on player actions. The findings indicate that AI makes games more dynamic and interactive, though challenges such as computational costs and gameplay balance persist. Future research should explore Generative AI to enhance NPC complexity and adaptability, offering innovative challenges and engagement to players.
