O Comportamento Verbal de B. F. Skinner: uma introdução

Abstract

A análise de Skinner acerca do comportamento verbal requer o entendimento de suas bases experimentais e filosóficas. A sua interpretação do comportamento social conhecido como “linguagem” é construída diretamente a partir da análise experimental do comportamento em contato direto com o seu ambiente imediato, tanto interno quanto externo, e do enquadramento do contato comportamental como relações de contingência. A análise das relações de contingência do comportamento verbal, contudo, lida com propriedades de comportamento não apenas sob os controles dinâmicos do contato direto, mas a medida que este controle é mediado pela sociedade. Uma comunidade social constrói esta mediação moldando as ações de seus membros para poderem ensinar outros membros como verbalizarem efetivamente através de formas apropriadas de ação. Portanto, os atributos de Skinner do comportamento verbal são: 1) relacional; 2) mediacional; 3) comunal; e 4) estipulacional. Todos os quatro são componentes necessários da sua análise de comportamento verbal, e constituem o que ele define como comportamento verbal.
