Abstract Fiber-reinforced polymer composite materials, as a cost-effective solution, are contenders for application in construction and in the rehabilitation of existing reinforced and prestressed concrete bridges, buildings, and other structures. This article focuses on structural condition assessment and composite materials reinforcing systems. It presents composite materials qualification process and composite material properties. The article also provides an overview of limit state design provisions and field implementation.
