Abstract ARNE is a general-purpose, oil-hardening tool steel. It is a versatile manganese-chromium-tungsten steel suitable for a wide variety of cold-work applications. Its main characteristics include: (1) Good machinability, (2) Good dimensional stability in hardening and (3) A good combination of high surface hardness and toughness after hardening and tempering. These characteristics combine to give a steel suitable for the manufacture of tooling with good tool life and high production economy. ARNE is used for a wide range of cutting and forming tools. This datasheet provides information on composition, physical properties, elasticity, and compressive strength. It also includes information on forming, heat treating, machining, and joining. Filing Code: TS-436. Producer or source: Uddeholm Steel Corporation.
