Abstract AVESTA 654 SMO is an austenitic stainless steel which due to its high content of molybdenum and nitrogen possesses excellent resistance to pitting and crevice corrosion. It also has very high resistance to general corrosion in acids, especially those containing halide ions. Furthermore, its mechanical strength is high in comparison with conventional austenitic grades. This datasheet provides information on composition, physical properties, hardness, elasticity, and tensile properties as well as fracture toughness and fatigue. It also includes information on high temperature performance and corrosion resistance as well as forming, heat treating, and joining. Filing Code: SS-552. Producer or source: Avesta Sheffield Inc.
