Abstract AISI 8622 is a low-carbon triple-alloy steel of moderate-to-good hardenability for carburizing and other applications. Its core is characterized by good strength and toughness. When carburized it is recommended for heavy-duty applications such as cams, gears, shafts and piston pins. It is suitable also for many engineering applications when normalized or quenched and tempered. This datasheet provides information on composition, physical properties, hardness, elasticity, and tensile properties. It also includes information on forming, heat treating, machining, joining, and surface treatment. Filing Code: SA-351. Producer or source: Alloy steel mills and foundries.
