Abstract ELKONITE G17, G18, 7065, and 7165 silver silver alloys contain molybdenum as the refractory metal. Molybdenum has a lower density than tungsten and is less resistant to arc erosion. Molybdenum-silver Elkonites exhibit self-cleaning properties when subjected to arching during switching. The arc breaks down the molybdenum oxide at temperatures above 795 degrees C (1465 degrees F). This helps maintain low contact resistance. The molybdenum-silver Elkonites are susceptible to corrosion in high atmospheres and are not recommended where they will encounter this type of environment. This datasheet provides information on composition, physical properties, hardness, and bend strength. Filing Code: MO-18. Producer or source: CMW Inc.
