Abstract

El poder judicial en México es una institución poco comprendida por la sociedad. A pesar de ello, el papel de la Corte y el poder judicial es central para la democracia, pues operan como un contrapeso frente a posibles abusos del gobierno y avanzan la protección de los derechos ciudadanos. Recientemente se ha presentado una propuesta de reforma que busca cambiar drásticamente su rol de contrapeso, proponiendo la elección popular de jueces, lo que socavaría la independencia judicial y eliminaría el sistema de carrera judicial. Si bien el sistema actual no está exento de problemas, esta propuesta representa un retroceso significativo que politizaría la Corte y la estructura general del poder judicial en lugar de fortalecerlos. Es fundamental considerar alternativas que garanticen su imparcialidad e independencia para preservar la democracia en México.
