Abstract

Amblyomma sculptum, conhecido como carrapato-estrela no Brasil em sua fase adulta, pertence ao complexo A. cajennense, sendo capaz de parasitar diversos hospedeiros inclusive o homem. Esta espécie apresenta grande importância na saúde pública e veterinária pela capacidade de transmitir uma variedade de patógenos aos seus hospedeiros, principalmente Rickettsia rickettsii, agente causador da Febre Maculosa Brasileira. O presente trabalho teve como objetivos estabelecer um sistema de controle integrado do carrapato A. sculptum na Fazenda da Ponte, no município de Itu – SP, e desenvolver testes de campo com os fungos entomopatogênicos Metarhizium anisopliae (isolado IBCB 425) e Beauveria bassiana (isolado IBCB 66) contra carrapatos do gênero Amblyomma. Os testes de campo com fungos foram realizados na Fazenda Mato Dentro do CAPSA/ IB, Campinas - SP; e no Campus “Fernando Costa” da Universidade de São Paulo, Pirassununga - SP.
