Functions of cytokinins in adventitious and lateral root formation

Abstract

高等植物の根系は, 胚発生時に形成される主根, 主根から枝分かれして形成される側根, 胚軸や茎から形成される不定根によって構成されている. これまでに我々は, 根 (端) がより上側 (基部側) に生じる根の形成を抑制している「根端優勢」という説に基づき, 生化学的解析, 分子遺伝学的解析を通して不定根・側根形成制御機構の解明を試みてきた. カボチャ導管液から根形成抑制因子としてサイトカイニンの一種であるトランスゼアチンリボシド (ZR) が同定され, 根で合成されたサイトカイニンが導管液を介して上側に輸送されることにより, より上側での新たな根の形成を抑制していることが示された.また, 不定根・側根形成が異常なシロイヌナズナ突然変異体 wooden leg-3 (wol-3) 等の解析により, 正常なサイトカイニン受容が, 胚軸の維管束形成を通して側根形成を誘導するための茎頂から主根へのオーキシン輸送に必要であることが明らかになった. また, 主根や胚軸と不定根の維管束形成におけるサイトカイニンの機能に受容体レベルで違いがみられることも明らかになった. 以上の結果から, サイトカイニンは根における形態形成において組織, 器官レベルで多様な機能を持ち, 正常な根系の形成において極めて重要なはたらきをしていることが示された.
