Bromelain (Ananase®G)—a group of proteolytic enzymes which are said to have effect on oedema and hematomas in soft tissue injuries—has been tested in a double blind series of 98 patients undergoing plastic surgery. The authors could not find any effect at all of bromelain. This preparation was not introduced in Sweden partly due to the results of this investigation.
