
Abstract The limitation of teaching materials is a problem that needs to be solved in physics learning. So developed teaching materials that can solve the problem, namely workbook. This study aims to produce a workbook based on contextual physics that is valid and practical. Research is done including the type of Research and Development (R & D). The object of research is physics workbook on temperature and caloric material and test subject is the students of class VII1 SMP Negeri 2 Kecamatan Payakumbuh. Instrument collecting data in the form of validation sheet of experts, student response sheets and teachers. Product analysis techniques and data used are descriptive techniques, graphical methods and descriptive analysis. The result of validity test in feasibility aspect of content, language, presentation of work book, and kegrafisan show that physics workbook is very valid with average value 3.50. Practicality test results in the practical aspect show this workbook is practical for teachers and very practical for students with an average of 87% and 90%. Abstrak Keterbatasan bahan ajar merupakan sebuah permasalahan yang perlu dipecahkan dalam pembelajaran fisika. Sehingga dikembangkan bahan ajar yang dapat mengatasi masalah tersebut, yaitu buku kerja. Penelitian ini bertujuan menghasilkan buku kerja fisika berbasis kontekstual yang valid dan praktis.Penelitian yang dilakukan termasuk jenis Research and Development (R&D). Objek penelitian yaitu buku kerja fisika pada materi suhu dan kalor dan subjek uji coba adalah siswa kelas VII1 SMP Negeri 2 Kecamatan Payakumbuh. Instrumen pengumpul data berupa lembar validasi tenaga ahli, lembar respon siswa dan guru.Teknik analisis produk dan data yang digunakan adalah teknik mendeskripsikan, metode grafik dan analisis deskriptif. Hasil uji validitas dalam aspek kelayakan isi, kebahasaan, penyajian buku kerja, dan kegrafisan menunjukkan bahwa buku kerja fisika sangat valid dengan nilai rata-rata 3,50. Hasil uji praktikalitas dalam aspek kepraktisan menunjukkan buku kerja ini praktis bagi guru dan sangat praktis bagi siswa dengan nilai rata-rata 87% dan 90 %.
