The research aims to determine the features characterising the functioning of the causative voice of the verb in the Udmurt language. Special attention is paid to systematising and summarising the process of the formation of the category of voice in the Udmurt linguistics, etymology of the grammatical marker of causation -ты- . Constructions with causative verbs imply having a subject (actor), an object (patient) and the fact of causation expressed by the verb. Scientific novelty of the paper consists in the fact that this is the first attempt of presenting in a systemic manner the functioning of the category of the verb’s causative voice in the Udmurt language; the author attempts to determine the origin of the morpheme -ты- . As a result of the research, eight types of causative constructions are considered, new language data, which can become an additional source for a comparative and typological study of verbs belonging to languages with different structures, are introduced into scientific use.
